What is IPR protection at the import/export stage?
- This is an activity that supports the detection of IPR infringement products at the import/export stage. In the process of importing or exporting, it is to determine whether the product is a genuine product or a counterfeit product for which there is a reasonable suspicion that intellectual property rights have been infringed.
How to do business
- TIPA delivers information on items that require appraisal to the intellectual property right holder and supports the intellectual property right holder to proceed with the appraisal process on the spot.
- TIPA checks the classification of appraisal and non-appraisal items, the product name, brand, quantity, and specifications of the appraised item in advance so that the intellectual property right holder can conduct the appraisal smoothly, supports on-site appraisal, and delivers the results to the concerned person. etc.

- From 2019 to 2020, we conducted intellectual property protection activities at the import/export stage for 95 trademarks. In terms of the quantity of products, it is about 190,000 points in 2019 and 456,000 points in 2020.

- It is a public-private cooperation program that supports inspection of import and export goods using international mail. Since the frequency of detection of counterfeit goods using international mail is very high, the relevant agencies are conducting special intensive inspections.
How to do business
- At the postal import/export site, TIPA selects items that are likely to infringe on intellectual property rights among numerous mails and notifies the intellectual property right holder. After that, it is negotiated whether the intellectual property right holder will perform the counterfeit or not, or have TIPA act on his/her behalf.
- TIPA informs the intellectual property right holder of the facts about the object that needs to be assessed, and supports the intellectual property right person to proceed with the appraisal process on the spot.
- In the process of appraisal, TIPA confirms the classification of appraised and non-appraised articles, the name, brand, quantity, and standard of appraised articles in advance so that intellectual property right holders can conduct appraisal efficiently, and supports on-site appraisal and provides the results. It carries out tasks such as passing it on to the person concerned.
