TRIPS Agreement
What is TRIPS?
- It is an abbreviation of 「 Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights 」.
- It is stipulated in 'Annex 1C' of the 「Marrakesh Agreement for Establishment of the World Trade Organization」 (WTO Agreement).
- This is the first multilateral standard for intellectual property rights such as patents, design rights, trademarks, and copyrights.
It consists of 7 chapters and 73 articles. Chapter 1 is general regulations and basic principles, Chapter 2 protection standards,
Chapter 3 Intellectual property enforcement procedures, Chapter 4 internal procedures for acquiring and maintaining intellectual property rights, and Chapter 5 Dispute Prevention and Resolution Procedures, Chapter 6 Transitional Measures, and Chapter 7 System-Related Regulations (Final Regulations).
